On reading a bit about PIMS, it seems that if your information is not in the KCC, then the US consulate sends a request to Kentucky for information. It turns out KCC has access to the CLAIMS3 system used by the USCIS, and they generally respond in 48 hrs. Here is the link:

My attorney received an email notice of I-140 approval (PP) on Mon, June 25. But the online case status showed the application as pending. Finally,today my attorney called and was told that due to "system glitch ", approval notices were sent out in error!! It seems this has done to others too!!

My company informed me today that, when spouse is added to the insurence, the insurence will start from day 1 of next month. My wife will be comming in the middle of month. How to cover this gap with insurence...?? Any suggestions...????

I got my GC last year august but her gc/485 status is still pending. Is it even possible based on her case was dependent on me? What can I do abt it. Thanks.
Its ok. Her I-485 can be approved only when PD is current.

Yet another variation that occurs involves F-1 students who have job offers. The prospective employer of an F-1 student normally has filed an H1B petition requesting a change of status for that F-1 student. The parties now want to take advantage of the April 2008 option announced by the USCIS to utilize the possible 17-month OPT extension provision. The employer needs to withdraw the H1B petition in order for the student to continue in F-1 status. Once the status is changed from F-1 to H1B, the individual would no longer be able to extend the OPT period, even if the H1B petition is approved for the future start date of employment. However, before withdrawing the potentially very valuable H1B petition, it is best to discuss the advantages and disadvantages with a qualified immigration attorney.
In your case you never started your H1 status. So you should be eligible for applying an OPT extension, which should give you ample time for next lottery.
I am no lawyer, you should check with a good immigration attorney about this.

My opinion is that there is not much point in looking for a different country. Most of us have been in the US and have developed some kind of roots here already. So GC is needed and we deserve it.
If there is no GC in the horizon, pack up and go back. And like the guy in CA mentioned in the news article, none of us will be charming snakes in India.

I had one A# on my EAD (during OPT), as xxx-xxx-xxx, which was expired after OPT was end. Then, after I filed my I485 application, I obtained another A# showed on I-797C form, as Axxxxxxxxx. So I am quite comfused that which one is my current A#. Does A# change with our status? Thanks.

She should be fine....Even if your wife's petition is not filed you have 180 days to submit the application after your I-485 is approved....There was a separate thread which discussed this in detail...You can seach for it....

- Labor & I 140 cleared: PD Jan 07 EB2
- Currently working on 6th year H1B, lawyer is asking me to extend the H1B visa for another 3 years since the I-140 has cleared.
- Changed my job title from a project engineer to a lead engineer 180 days after filing I485 ( with lawyer consent).
- Now offered a manager role with in the same organization hence accepted the offer without notifying the lawyer.
- Lawyer will ask me to file for a H1b extension in July/Aug time frame do you believe this might create a huge issue due to change in the role from an engineer to a manager (still within the engineering organization though)?
Would really appreciate your inputs and comments to this, is there anything on the USICS website that clarifies this.

Engineer and manager have different Onet codes and responsibilities. I have been promoted to a managerial position in my formal firm but i turned it down.
Here is my situation:
